I just love how Thousand Hills International Church is starting to make a big impact, both locally and around the world. Last Tuesday we had the Watoto Children’s Choir from Uganda give a concert (for Dutch website, click here).
And what a concert it was! Even though these kids come from broken families and many of them are orphaned due to AIDS, they have so much joy and are full of hope and faith because of what Jesus Christ has done in their lives.
Offering for Watoto: 5000 euro!
When we took up an offering for this amazing ministry that builds homes and brings up to 8 kids and one mother together in one home to create a new family, it seems like a spirit of generosity was released among us. People gave a total of 3000 euro (4000 USD) to this cause, signed up to sponsor kids, and then as a church we gave an extra 2000 euro (2700 USD) to give children in Africa a future! I am thankful that we can be a part of that!
Christmas hampers – blessing people at our doorstep!
But now the Christmas season is at the door! And that’s a great opportunity to also bring hope and love to people at our doorstep. Even in the wealthy West there are people living in poverty and loneliness. So as a church we wanted to do something about that and found a couple of people who had some really cool ideas for what we could do.
One of those ideas is that we want to give away Christmas hampers (kerstpakketten) to people who could really use them. We will give some of them away to people in the church who need that little extra help. But we also want to get YOU involved in giving some hampers away to people outside the church that you know could need them as a way of saying to them that you love them and care about them.
How can you help?
So how can you help with the Christmas hampers? Come to church this Sunday, fill out the bulletin insert, and let us know how many hampers you want to give away and whether you know people outside the church that could need one and that you would like to give one. A hamper for a single person costs 30 euro. A hamper for a family costs 50 euro.
